Very few airplanes have generated more curiosity than this one – The grand Daddy of all Jumbo Passenger Jets The Airbus Industrie A380-800. Conceived to be the most spacious and efficient commercial airplane ever designed , the Airbus Industrie A380-800 not only fulfils its promises but does much more than that.
Designed in consultation with 60 major airport authorities around the world , the A380 being that much bigger in size – still meets the existing runway regulations of all the major international airports , thus reducing further development costs to customize the runways. In fact Airbus A380’s highly innovative and efficient wing design also makes it capable to take-off and land in much lesser distance than the second biggest existing Super Jumbo in the market ( read that Boeing 747 400ER ).
The A380 800 is the pioneer model in the Airbus A380 series and is designed to seat 525 passengers in utmost comfort in the typical 3 Class configuration , making it the largest passenger jet in the world , even though it has a shorter fuselage than the Airbus A340 600. The passenger capacity can be hiked up to a striking 853 if configured in 1 Class seating.
Airbus being certified as the first passenger jet manufacturer to meet the international ISO 14001 environmental standards , its very easy to understand that the A380 is an environment friendly Green passenger airplane , but to what extent may surprise even the biggest experts. Airbus not only made sure that they meet their promises but also made all their suppliers around Europe and other parts of the world to sign written contracts of assurance to meet the next Gen stringent environment friendly norms. The entire airplane has components designed in such a way so that they can be transported easily by water ( ships ) and at night by road ( Eco Friendly Trucks ).
Airbus also claims that the A380 800 consumes 17% lesser fuel per passenger than second biggest Jumbo Jet in the market ( again read Boeing 747 400ER ) , and with the A380 seats much more comfortable , ergonomic and bigger in size than the older existing super Jumbos , a 17% reduction in fuel consumption are amazing figures.  Airbus achieves this by a highly efficient and aerodynamic fuselage design , and also usage of  innovative composite materials to reduce weight. On the environmental part lesser fuel burn means lesser CO2 emissions , which if calculated on CO2 emission per passenger is lower than half of the second best passenger jet.
Now coming to the engines , Airbus uses highly innovative Hi by-pass engines from Rolls Royce and Engine Alliance , which benefits the A380 with better fuel efficiency and ultra low engine noise, though the low engine noise can no more be called a benefit. These engines are designed to produce lesser sound so that the cabin noise always stays low and the passengers are always comfortable , but with some aircrafts already delivered to The Emirates , this feature can turned out to be a problem form the pilots and passengers trying to sleep due to the fact of too much of cabin noise being audible, but for the environment lesser – Lesser Engine Noise means lesser sound pollution. Airbus can always try and generate an artificial cabin noise ( which will sound like the jet engines )  to get over this problem without compromising the benefits of the really outstandingly engineered Jet engines.
