Development

Grob is a company sought-after for its controlled lightweight flyers and airplanes, has provided in excess of 3500 flying machines since the early 1970s. Thus, it is not shocking that much that the G-115 is the first airship created using Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics to be certified by the US FAA.

The improvement of the Grob G-115 goes against the early 1980s as well as the two prior seat mentors of the company. The first G-110 flew in 1982 and was inherent in small numbers. Meanwhile, the G-112 flew in 1984 in the model structure just.

Orders and Deliveries

As mentioned earlier, the company has created more than 3,500 aircraft since the early 1970s. Basically, this aircraft was built to perform elementary flight training, pilot screening, and aerobatics maneuvers. The strong landing design enabled the Grob G-115 to achieve harsh training even in the worst weather conditions.

It’s worth mentioning that the aircraft was also built to perform training throughout the day or night and also in non-icing conditions.

We’d also like to highlight that the Grob G115 is made of advanced composite materials: the main fuselage and every wing is a single piece. It features a fixed Tricycle undercarriage along with spatted wheels, a short nose bearing the 180 hp engine as well as a three-bladed variable pitch propeller.

The cockpit boasts a wide canopy and an all-around vision with seating for students and pilots. The wings are tapered with empennage, which is composed of a big fin and wheel with an oblong tailplane.

Design

One of the best things about the Grob G-115 is it features a corrosion-resistant and strong all-composite airframe made up of carbon composite materials. The roomy cockpit of this aircraft is fitted with two side-by-side seats for students and pilots. Further, the seats could be followed through flexible rudder pedals and squab cushions. The huge glass canopy renders all round clear visibility as well to the crew.

The main switches and controls are incorporated to the cockpit’s right side to fly the aircraft with a right-hand stick and a left-hand throttle, allowing it to transit immediately to fast jet aircraft.

It’s worth mentioning as well that the cockpit is geared with a rate of climb indicator, attitude indicator, airspeed indicator, voiceover recorder, altimeter, engine RPM gauge, distance measuring equipment, instrument landing system, and cockpit heading controls.

Engines

This aircraft was powered by a 1 x Lycoming O-360-A1B6 4-cylinder air-cooled piston engine, along with a 180 hp engine and a three-bladed variable pitch propeller.

Performance

The Grob G115 is an advanced general aviation fixed-wing aircraft, mainly utilized for flight training. Its maximum speed is 119 kt, and its cruising speed is 110 kt. When it comes to the initial climb rate, it offers a performance of 690 feet per minute. Its range with max fuel is 540nm.
